1970s

Public company consolidation

  • The Wine Group formed within Coca-Cola Bottling of New York, Inc.

1980s

Leveraged buy-out by Coke-NY TWG management team and outside investors

  • August 27, 1981: Arthur Ciocca, Founder and Chairman, founded The Wine Group, Inc. in San Francisco, California
  • Outside investors were bought-out by management team
  • 1984: The Wine Group, became a privately-held, management-owned company
  • 1988: TWG acquired wine brands including Corbett Canyon Winery

2000s

Wine Industry Consolidation & Acquisition- TWG acquired a few brands including:

  • 2002: Glen Ellen Winery and Concannon Vineyard
  • 2004: Golden State Vintners & FishEye Wines
  • 2006: Big House Wine Co.
  • 2008: Almaden Vineyards

2010s

Innovation for All Generations

  • 2010: Franzia Winery became a top brand in all age segments
  • 2011: flipflop wines launched and in 2012, sold 600K cases and awarded Leader’s Choice “Best New Wine Product” Award by Market Watch Magazine
  • 2012: Cupcake Vineyards, sells 3MM cases, the fastest growing premium wine brand; Trapiche Vineyards U.S. alliance begins
  • 2013: Gancia Winery U.S. alliance formed
